Licensing Application and Exam

Licensing Application

The application needs to be sworn (by you) and commissioned by a commissioner for affidavits. If you require that done, there is no charge, but the form needs to be completed with the information of the commissioner as follows:

M. Anne Vespry, Barrister and Solicitor
Suite 642
99 – 1568 Merivale Road
Ottawa, Ontario, K2G 5Y7

If you require your identification notarized, there will be a fee of $50.00 (No HST) please bring correct change, or cheque made out to M. Anne Vespry. Keep the receipt, your application to the Law Society will presumably be a business expense that may be tax deductible when you are acting as a paralegal.

You will need to bring your application form, your ID, two passport sized pictures of yourself, and anything else the Law Society requires. In particular your ID will need to be copied, and the copies notarized. Please download the Notarial Certificate all the parts that are highlighted in yellow need to be edited and the highlighting removed. Anything in red type is an instruction and should also be removed once you’re done. Anything highlighted and in black type is an example, so insert your information instead. If you are submitting only one photocopied sheet, make sure that the references to “attached” is singular, if you’ve got more than one, it should be plural and put the number of sheets where required.

Licensing Exam

The licensing exam material from the Law Society may be scarily big at first glance, but you will find that you already know much of the material. Your reading through it before the exam should be more about reviewing what you know, than learning new materials.
